Autumn glory as sun rises over Ludlow

 I took this picture while standing on Whitcliffe Common - my favourite vantage point - and watched as swirls of mist encircled the town.

Stretching across the horizon is Brown Clee and its twin summits of Abdon Burf and Clee Burf, which are both crowned by Iron Age hill forts.

Ludlow Castle dates from the 11th century and was once home to Edward V and Richard, Duke of York - the so called Princes in the Tower. 

It is acknowledged as one of the finest medieval ruins in England, and was described as ‘the very perfection of decay’ by Daniel Defoe, author of Robinson Crusoe.
