It’s a must in the diary - my annual visit to Clun to photograph the cherry blossom in spring.

I had to dodge the showers on what was a surprisingly chilly day, but the sun finally came out and I got this shot of bright pink flowers near the medieval packhorse bridge.

The bridge crosses the meandering River Clun and divides the town in two, with the Saxon settlement to the south and the newer Norman town to the north.

Clun, of course, is described as one of the ‘quietest places under the sun’ in A E Housman's A Shropshire Lad - and it's easy to see why.
