Mystical sunrise in the lovely Onny Valley

For this shot I was standing on Heath Mynd, near Bishop’s Castle, and stretching across the landscape is the mile-long avenue of oak trees that leads to Linley Hall.

On the left is the southern tip of the Long Mynd, while just beyond it is Nortoncamp Wood and its Iron Age hill fort.

To the right is Stoke Wood, whose name comes from the Anglo-Saxon word stoches, meaning a cattle farm. 

This was yet another early start for me, with the alarm going off at 4.15am.
