In less than 10 seconds the landscape of the Ironbridge Gorge was changed forever.

End of an era at Ironbridge

This was my view of the end of an era as the cooling towers at Ironbridge were demolished.

I was standing three miles away on the summit of the Wrekin, along with several hundred other spectators, and it was an amazing sight.

The power station was one of the largest of its kind in the UK when it opened in 1969, providing enough electricity for the equivalent of about 750,000 homes. It stopped producing in 2015.

I am delighted to say that this picture was used in the Daily Telegraph, the Daily Star and the Daily Express!
